Welcome to Shonanloco – Shonan For Ukraine
We are a group of dedicated volunteers based in the Shonan area of Kanagawa, Japan.
Our focus is on helping Ukrainian refugees and evacuees to get settled in Japan by supporting them with visa application guidance, information about flights to Japan, and introductions to funding, housing, and education opportunities.
We can work quickly and efficiently because we usually work with one Ukrainian individual or family at a time and we are not restricted by the bureaucracies and rules of larger organizations or government entities.
Although Shonanloco’s key value comes from our agility and small-scale focus, we also partner with NPOs such as Rotary Clubs and we link Ukrainian refugees with city and prefecture support opportunities and funding entities such as Nippon Zaidan.

Shonanloco（湘南ロコ）のウェブサイトをご覧いただきありがとうございます。Shonanlocoは湘南エリア在住の個人の集まりからなるボランティアグループです。
主な活動は、ウクライナからの避難民が無事に日本に入国し、日本での生活の基盤ができるまでの支援とし、ビザの申請の仕方から、日本での住居・学校探しや就職の支援が受けられるまでのお手伝いをします。
一度に支援するのは通常一名か一家族のため、湘南ロコのリソースを利用して効率的に支援が可能です。また個人の集まりのため、大きな組織にありがちなしがらみがなく、迅速に行動ができるのが特徴です。
湘南ロコは政府からの支援が受けられるまでの過程に焦点を置き、少人数で動いているため迅速さが利点ではありますが、各県・各市のウクライナ避難民支援をする窓口、日本財団などの経済的支援を行う団体等とウクライナ避難民をつなぐ役割も担っています。また、地元のロータリークラブと提携しながら住居、生活や就職の支援も行っています。
